Waiting Children

While the majority of our adoptions are healthy infant adoptions, we do place older children and children with special needs that are available for adoption. We believe that all children deserve a loving home.

As we are aware of children with specific needs that are waiting for a home, we will post very basic information on this page. Respecting the children’s privacy, we will not be posting photos on our web-site. For general information about our Waiting Children Program or to inquire about a waiting child, please call our Intake Specialists at (888) 797-9900 or e-mail them at info@ftia.org.

To be able to access more detailed information than the general information posted on our public web-site, anyone interested in one of the children on our public web-site will need to submit the following by fax or email:

1. A completed FTIA application;
2. A home study (no more than 2 years old) approving them to adopt, and
3. The Agreement for Review of a Waiting Child File.

Please note that if you have adopted through FTIA in the last 2 years, we will not need a faxed/emailed application and home study for you to be able to review a child’s file.

After reviewing & approving the copy of your application and a copy of your home study, you will be permitted to view a child’s file. If you decide to pursue the adoption of that child, we require that you complete the following before you commit to the child; however, if you indicate your intent to commit to a specific child, we will not allow anyone else to view the child’s information.

1. Submit an original completed and signed FTIA Application & Adoption Service Agreement with the application fee of $200.
2. Submit a completed Family Summary and Treatment Plan, with confirmation that you have consulted with an international medical specialist; and
3. A home study approving you for the placement of a child with special needs.
4. Have completed the Hague Required Parent Education as well as the FTIA Parent Education Workbook, Parenting a Child with Special Needs, which is available through your MyFTIA account.
